Portraits

This is gonna be a really quick post. I just wanted to share some portraits I took of my friends while we were in Krakow, Poland. I have never really taken any portraits before. This was my first trial. I think they turned out pretty well. My friend just sat on the window pane watching people go about their activities on the street while listening to music on her Ipod, and I just thought "this would make a really nice photo". So I just took a few. I know all the photos were taken in one position, it was a very spontaneous thing. I'll be more creative next time. I hope you like them.

When they all saw that the photos were nice, they all wanted photos, lol.

If you liked them, please leave a nice comment. Thanks in advance :))

Love Padlocks

One of the places I visited while Krakow, Poland is the Lovers footbridge. This bridge is called Father Bernard Footbridge. Theres's this tradition going on in some European cities like Paris, Rome, Florence, Cologne.
So, what's this tradition about? A happy couple visits the bridge and locks a padlock to the bridge (some even engrave their names on the padlock) and then throw the keys into the Vistula river. It is a sign of their everlasting love for each other. Romantic or what?????
As for me, I didn't go to lock anything. I was just a happy tourist that found this tradition very interesting and even though I have been to Paris and Rome, I have never seen any of the bridges.
The Bridge was just recently completed (2010), so there is still space for thousands of padlocks incase any of my readers want to lock away their love :))
I took a lot of photos and would like to share some with you.
There's another bridge behind the footbridge as you've noticed. We'll talk about that in another post.

 The Father Bernard Footbridge.
Look at those padlocks. Lots of space left :)

I hope you really like these pictures cause I love them. If you do, please kindly leave a comment below, it does put a smile on my face :) Thanks in advance.

Something Polish

Last week some friends and I travelled to Poland for the weekend. There was a long holiday in Hungary and we made use of the opportunity. I probably will not have any more holidays since exams are coming soon., even if I did have any breaks, I'll probably stay put.
Anyway, back to this trip. We went to the city of Krakow. Even though it isn't the capital of Poland, it is referred to as the cultural capital and I couldn't agree more. There's so much history in that city and I absolutely loved the time I spent there.

A friend of mine (a frequent reader of this blog, you know who you are :)) kindly asked me to take pictures of things other than buildings when I travelled. And thats when I realised that I bombard my readers with a lot of buildings and the history surrounding them.

Well, that was a good thing, cause it just made me more creative and I'd like to share some of the photos I took. I took a lot of cathedral photos by the way, however, I won't share those.

So I hope you enjoy these ones :)
The are a lot of street musicians in Krakow
I saw this really cute dog all dressed up, even with shoes. I couldn't resist taking a photo.
Street market with lights.

And then off to the Rynek square. There were so many people out because the weather was amazing. However, it was the children and the pigeons that caught my attention.
They just tried to scare the pigeons away.

Some birds on a slab on the Vistula river.
Prepare for landing :)

Winter!!!!!

Thank God the worst of winter is past us here. This winter was a very challenging one especially for pedestrians like myself. Walking to school through thick snow everyday isn't easy. It was also not easy getting up in the morning. I had to set my alarm clock about 15 minutes earlier than the usual time I woke up in case I had to snooze, which happened every single day. Thankfully, I can now wake up to the first ring:))

The days are now longer and the sun shines well now. It's still cold but not icy cold at least I don't need to use gloves anymore.

I just want to share bunch of photos that I have accumulated this winter. ENJOY :))

You probably can't tell where the road starts from, except for those cars.
My neighbour's car :( I'm sure she had trouble getting out the next day.
I tried to create a 'depth of field' here. I was somewhat successful. My camera is quite limited in this area.

My boots embedded in the snow.

She must be cold....

The main building of my university.

Something abandoned in the park.

Hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by.
